World Wide Web- Spoken Word Poem:
World Wide Web highlights my struggle and ultimately my freedom from pornography. I wanted to shed light on an issue I know is alive and active. There is freedom from addiction through Christ! Who else will escape this World Wide Web!
Lil' Bro- Spoken Word Poem:
The concept of Lil Bro is basically my testimony throughout
my high school years, and I am essentially talking to a younger male or “Lil
Bro” about some of the situations and struggles I faced and how my new found
relationship with Christ brought about a true and authentic change in my life.
Change is not an event, but a journey. This poems talks about that journey.
Lil' Sis- Spoken Word Poem:
Similar to the concept of Lil Bro I am talking to a younger female or "Lil Sis" in regards to some situations young women face. I am very, very passionate about the message found in this poem. The main message: To Know Your Worth! Unfortunately in many instances our society today has stripped women from identifying their true worth and value in Christ. Contrary to the messages being given to young girls and women in the media and music. Lil Sis gives a refreshing and godly perspective concerning women's true worth, value, and character. Remember that true identity is only found in Christ.
My Mother- Spoken Word Poem:
This poem entitled "My Mother," is just simply that. This poem is specifically for my mother. I had the great honor and pleasure of first sharing this poem on Mother's day 2012 at my church home.
Image in the Mirror- Spoken Word Poem:
Image
in the Mirror is based off a book my Father was blessed to author. My Father is
a hairdresser, or as he would like to say an “Image Maker,” so his book
addresses different aspects about hair, but he also encourages women to embrace
their own unique image God has created them to have. A lot of the same messages
will be echoed out throughout this poem. I was so blessed with the opportunity
to first share this poem at my Father’s book signing event. True beauty is
embracing who God created us to be.
For the Men (Call of Action)- Spoken Word Poem:
I was inspired to write “For the Men” after I saw the movie
Courageous. After seeing that movie it is very hard to not leave challenged or
empowered! Not only did this movie encourage my Faith as a Kingdom man, but it
also made me value my father so much more. This poem highlights several
challenges we as men face, and I also give a tribute to my father towards the
end. Men let us strive to be men God has purposed us to be, not defined by the
worlds standards.
